TripartiteCGFP welcomes opportunity for government meeting

The Confederation of Public Servants (CGFP) convened for a committee meeting on Monday evening.

The implementation of the CovidCheck system at work was at the centre of attention on Monday evening. Steve Heiliger, CGFP’s secretary general, commented: “The government could have saved everyone a lot of trouble if there had been a clear strategy from the beginning. They could have talked and listened to us right from the beginning.”

Due to the ongoing pandemic, the number of people at the committee meeting was restricted to two delegates from each of the subordinate organisations. The remaining CGFP members were able to follow the event online.

Officials appealed to the government to increase and legally bind the option of home office hours. At the moment, civil servants may work remotely for a maximum of four days per week.

CGFP members thus welcomed the invitation for a tripartite. Next Monday, representatives from unions, employers, and the government will “finally” meet to discuss all the pertinent issues of the moment, including housing, climate change, increase of energy prices, and of course the pandemic.

CGFP president Romain Wolf used the opportunity to emphasise that current housing prices increased by 21% in comparison to the same period in 2020. Although the government has managed to recognise the problem, not enough is being done to combat the issue, Wolf noted.
