The Minett region truly lives up to its name. Renowned for its distinctive red soil, the area in the south of Luxembourg has a landscape and history shaped by iron ore.

The reddish hue comes from the iron-rich earth that, for decades, laid the foundation for the country’s thriving steel industry.

Thanks to this resource, Luxembourg became a global exporter during the 20th century. Even today, remnants of this industrial past, which for instance include the towering blast furnaces in Belval, continue to define the Minett’s skyline.

As industry gradually gave way, the Minett has transformed into a vibrant cultural hub. You can experience this at events like the Usina Festival in Dudelange or the Blues Express Festival in the historic Fonds de Gras.

If you prefer something more whimsical, the Bettembourg Park, enchanting children since 1956, offers a fairy-tale setting.
