Mayor Lydie Polfer took a look back at 2019 in her speech, covering both the joy and the tragedy of the past year, as well as future projects for 2020.

Among the sad moments that marked last year, Polfer recalled the death of Grand Duke Jean, the tragic accident at the Christmas market on Place Guillaume II, the pollution following the incident at Beggen water plant, and the fire at the Brasserie Guillaume.

Although 2020 will remain busy with plentiful construction sites in the capital, several projects will finally come to an end. This will be the case in particular for the new football and rugby stadium and the fire station.

New projects will also be launched this year, such as the 'renaturation' of the Pétrusse river. In any case, the opening of the tram line at the city's central train station should mark the end of most of the construction sites plaguing the city centre.
