At 8am on Saturday, police were alerted to an altercation between several people at the Aire de Berchem motorway services during which a weapon was allegedly fired. Two suspects, a man and a woman, sought to escape the grasp of authorities as a result of the alert.
A police patrol spotted them shortly after and pursued them across the French border, where they managed to stop the fugitive vehicle. Officers found and seized a firearm after a search of the car and thus arrested both passengers.
The prosecutor’s office subsequently launched an investigation. The woman was released from custody on Sunday while Luxembourgish authorities requested the extradition of the man from France.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
