While acknowledging that a curfew might be the most efficient way to avoid another lockdown, Engel stated in a Facebook post that it must be implemented vigorously to pay off.
However, he directed strong criticism towards the administration for failing to act quickly enough to deal with the rise in cases. He noted that for over a week, officials have been watching the virus spiral out of control. While they still "laughed at those bidding caution" last week, the recent infection spike might very well bring our hospitals to the limits of their capacity, Engel further emphasised.
His reaction comes in light of the latest measures taken by the administration on Friday. Meanwhile, the draft law is set to be filed on Monday, which will include a curfew from 11 pm to 6 am, as well as the change in the maximum size of groups from 10 to 4.
