Serge Legil, head of the prison administration, made the announcement in an interview with newspaper Tageblatt. Grand Duke Henri has already been invited to help inaugurate the facility in September next year.
At the moment, more than 520 inmates live in the Schrassig facility, which will be renovated once the new detention centre is operational.
