The police officers consulted the Luxembourg immigration division as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before taking him to a holding centre.

The police also responded to a break-in on Route d'Arlon in Strassen on Friday . As a woman returned home from work, she noticed two people running out of her house. One of the men was wearing sportswear with a hoodie over his head and was around 180cm tall. The second man was also wearing sportswear with red writing on it and he too had covered his face and was about 170cm tall.  Officers searched the area for the two men but they could not find them.

Following a court order, the man had to undergo a scan and officers discovered that he had foreign objects in his body. He was arrested and appeared in front of the investigating magistrate on Saturday.

Police patrols were also busy checking alcohol levels in traffic checks.  In total, 224 motorists were subject to breathalyser tests in Ettelbrück, Buderscheid, and Fuussekaul.

Eight motorists tested positive, three of whom had their licences revoked.
