The emergency services were alerted to a serious collision between Dommeldange and Waldhof at 8.30pm on Friday night.
Five ambulances (Lintgen, Junglinster, Bettembourg, Luxembourg), first responders and the capital's fire services rushed to Route d'Echternach, between Dommeldange and Waldhof, where two vehicles were involved in the accident.
One vehicle going towards Waldhof came off their lane, scraped a car and then collided with another vehicle. Out of the five people injured, one individual was left with serious injuries. As it turns out, the driver who caused the accident had been drinking.
The road had to be closed off for several hours. The court has been informed of the incident.
In another, unrelated, accident, a vehicle caught fire on the A13 towards Schengen around 10:30 am. No one was injured.
