Police responded to a series of violent incidents across Luxembourg on Thursday and Friday, leading to four people being injured in separate confrontations.
The first incident occurred around 1.45pm on Thursday at Luxembourg-Gare, where an altercation broke out between two men.
According to initial police reports, one man accused the other of stealing items from his van the previous day. The confrontation escalated, resulting in one person being injured and requiring hospital treatment.
As part of the investigation into the suspected theft, police searched a residence on the orders of the public prosecutor, but the operation yielded no evidence.
A few hours later, officers were called to Rue des Jardins in Bissen after two men suffered knife injuries, one to the leg and the other to the hand. Both victims were found at Place de l'Attert.
While neither was in life-threatening condition, one required hospitalisation. During subsequent searches, police recovered and secured a knife believed to have been used in the assault.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
On Friday evening at around 10pm, police were called to Rodange after a man caused a disturbance outside a venue on Rue du Commerce. Following a brief pursuit, officers apprehended the man on Rue Michel Rodange.
Police reported that the individual was heavily intoxicated and, after a medical examination, was placed in temporary custody for safety reasons. Further checks revealed that he had breached court-imposed restrictions.
Later, in the early hours of Saturday, police responded to another altercation in Ruelle du Chateau, Esch-sur-Alzette, where they found a man with facial injuries in a severely intoxicated state.
Initial investigations indicated the man had been attacked by two individuals, one of whom was quickly identified and detained by police.
The victim was taken to hospital for medical care, but due to his high level of intoxication and uncooperative behaviour, he was also placed in temporary custody.
