The operation focused above all on compliance with drug legislation. Both individuals and vehicles were inspected at the border crossings with Luxembourg and Belgium, and a number of offences were uncovered. The drugs seized during the checks included marijuana, hashish, cocaine and crack cocaine.

Trier police also reported that one motorist had been found in possession of nearly 150 grams of cocaine and was, in addition, under the influence of narcotics. A blood sample was subsequently taken.

All those involved will have to answer for offences under German narcotics law, in particular those governing cannabis consumption, as well as for driving under the influence of drugs.
