The above average rainfall this year has left a mark on their harvests, say Luxembourg's fruit growers.

The quality of apples and pears has not suffered much, says Franz-Josef Scheuer, advisor in the orcharding sector. Not so for mirabelles, plums, cherries and strawberries, who suffered considerable damage.

RTL also visited fruit grower Nico Hoffmann in Limpach, who grows 13 different types of apples. Whereas in previous years they have had to water their trees using drip irrigation, this was obviously not necessary this year and his apples have thrived. The pears liked the rain a little less and Nico Hoffmann has found more damage there.

The harvest takes place between August and November.
