The former Hôtel des Postes in Aldringen will remain the property of the Post, confirmed managing director, Claude Strasser. A project, which takes into account the great value of the building, is in development to maintain the jewel in the Post's heritage.
The building will not become a large five-star hotel, according to Strasser, who speculated it could become more of a boutique hotel instead. He said there were also potential plans to make the building accessible to the public, depending on analysis which is yet to be carried out. He did not confirm a deadline for plans.
The director also responded to criticism that old post offices are sold on and not used for social purposes. Strasser said these buildings were normally sold to public developers, but that the latter showed no interest in some of the buildings made available.
Strasser then confirmed that 5G is set to be launched in the Grand Duchy this year, but there were still some obstacles in terms of frequency distribution. The network of antennas means that there are still some tricky areas in Luxembourg, but the coverage is said to be one of the best in the world.
