The campaign poster, that can be seen in Budapest and across the streets of Hungary, has also been posted on Facebook. The campaign claims that Luxembourger Jean-Claude Juncker is conspiring with Jewish US billionaire and philanthropist George Soros to flood Hungary with refugees.
This information is false, not least because immigration policy is not dictated by the EU but something EU member states have autonomy over. Hungarian citizens are being purposely misinformed by Orbán and his Fidesz party.
The campaign is the brainchild of the right-wing populist and national-conservative alliance Fidesz (Hungarian Civic Alliance), but is funded by taxpayer money as the campaign falls under the category of information campaign.
