Although Météolux lifted its yellow alert for thunderstorms and heavy rain last night, the weather in some parts of Luxembourg remains very rainy on Friday morning.

Several accidents or traffic issues have been reported:

  • Due to flooding, the underpass at the Esch intersection of the A13 towards Pétange and the A4 towards Esch is currently closed. Motorists are advised to take the Foetz exit instead.
  • A tree has reportedly fallen on the N10 in the area of Eisenbach.
  • At about 8am, an accident was reported in Rue de Belvaux in Esch-sur-Alzette. One lane is blocked.
  • Also around 8am, an accident was reported on Route de Mondorf/N13 in Bettembourg. One person was reportedly hit by a vehicle. One lane is blocked.

The authorities also issued a reminder on Friday morning: “Heavy rain can cause aquaplaning on the roads in some places. Please be careful and adapt your driving style to the weather conditions.”
