Paul Heber from UNICEF Luxembourg joined Sam and Meredith on The Sam Steen Show to talk about what we can do to help those in need during these trying times.
The growing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is set to plunge 10 million people into poverty including up to 4 million children. This puts young children under 5 in immediate danger, potentially ensuring that those effected now are destined to remain in poverty for the rest of their lives.
While social as well as physical infrastructure breaks down all around the region, UNICEF are doing their best to provide resources, support and education to those displaced and hurt by the conflict.
Paul detailed the work UNICEF continue to do and discussed with Sam and Meredith how people can raise money and support the work that they do.
“Poverty is really on the rise, and we aren’t just talking about Ukraine, but about the bigger region. It actually goes much farther than the front lines.”
The group spoke about despite the situation being dire, there are many ways you can help either through donations or even through shopping on the UNICEF site.
