The LCGB has criticised the slow revaluation of the minimum wage in a press release on Wednesday. The independent union also expressed regret at the delay of the €100 net increase, which had already been announced by the government in December 2018.
With the current net income of €1,781 per month, a single person household on minimum wage will find itself below the current poverty threshold (€1,804/month), wrote the trade union.
The LCGB reiterated that it has been campaigning for a substantial revaluation of the minimum wage for four years now. The trade union also believes that the minimum wage should be tax free.
