Our colleagues from RTL 5minutes spoke to one resident, who shared the video depicted above: “I saw the first rats at the beginning of summer. Since then, it has only gotten worse and this morning was particularly horrible. I saw at least thirty of them.”
The concerned resident declared the problem a veritable “rat infestation”. He further informed our colleagues that he contacted Luxembourg City officials more than a month ago, but that the situation has not improved since: “They told me that it is ‘difficult’ to access the building.”
Naturally, the rats can be found in more than one building, and the young man’s neighbour already contacted an expert when she discovered the rats in her house. Apparently, the expert told the woman that there are so many rats that he will not even try his luck.
On Monday, a team of experts from the municipality finally made its way down to the location to properly asses the situation. They noted that the problem has now existed for about six or seven years, and that they never managed to get rid of all of them. The concerned resident remains sceptical, as the expert team conveyed that they will seek reinforcement to help them deal with the problem.
