The candidates were approved with 89.90% of the party's votes. Party president Franz Fayot explained that the party's slogan "Europe. Clear. Different." did not at all mean that the LSAP would turn its back on the EU. He underlined that there was no alternative to the European Union, which the party also emphasises in its European manifesto.

The six candidates will be led by Nicolas Schmit and Lisa Kersch. Below, Lisa Kersch speaks of her surprise at being elected co-leading candidate (in Luxembourgish).

The party believes that European policy can clearly be different, and its six candidates hope to campaign for a just Europe. The party aims to reduce social inequalities and distances itself from the hunt for short-term profit. The spotlight should be on humans and the environment, they said.

In terms of climate change, the LSAP wants to focus on a renewable and innovative Europe. A further fundamental issue is to highlight that the European Union was and remains a peace project. The manifesto reiterates the importance of security and democracy.

Fayot confirmed that the upcoming elections will be the new leadership's first big challenge.
