Two planes and cabin crewLuxair extends contract with German Airways for another year

RTL Today
Luxair has decided to charter a second plane from the German airline for the summer of 2023.

This wet lease contract, which is valid for the next 12 months, will include the cockpit and cabin crew. The leased plane will fly under the Luxair logo and colours. According to Luxair CEO Gilles Feith, the Luxembourgish airline has no choice but to lease the German Airways planes to meet the demand on Luxair routes in the first place. This would not be possible if Luxair relied solely on its own capacities.

Luxair currently has 19 planes of its own, as well as two planes from the German airline, which have a capacity of about 100 seats each.

Luxair intends to gradually modernise its fleet and purchase new planes in 2024 and 2025.

Luxair is currently in a mediation process led by former Prosecutor General Robert Biever, following two socially and economically difficult years.

About 800 disgruntled Luxair employees staged a major protest during the aviation tripartite negotiations one month ago.
