National Day of ResistanceLuxembourg commemorates those who died in concentration camps and prisons

On Sunday, Luxembourg commemorates all the resistance fighters who died in concentration camps and in prisons during World War 2. 23 members from the resistance movement in Luxembourg are being remembered in particular. They were shot on 25 February 1944 at the Hinzert concentration camp near Trier, Germany. It is also a day of remembrance for the Luxembourgish workers who went on strike in 1942 and were subsequently at Hinzert concentration camp and in Cologne.

On Sunday morning at 11am, a service will be held at the Glacis chapel in Luxembourg City, as well as a processions and a ceremony will be conducted in front of the Hinzert cross at the St. Nicolas graveyard. After that, the graved of the dead will be visited.
