At least seventeen people have been wounded - some severely so - after the gunmen opened fire at six different locations in Vienna last night.
Among the injured is a Luxembourgish student, according to Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn. The student was struck by a bullet in the left shoulder, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The victim was enjoying the last night before lockdown in a Ruprechtsplatz bistro before the gunmen attacked.
Asselborn explained the news had been confirmed by the Luxembourg embassy in Vienna, and added that he was in contact with the victim's family.
In an interview with RTL, Asselborn said he denounced the actions of the terrorists and appealed for a cooperative European effort to stand against Islamic terror.
Luxembourg's Prime Minister Xavier Bettel also offered his condolences to Vienna residents, and called the incident an "attack on our freedom, values and way of life".
