Around 4pm on Saturday, a Belvaux resident alerted police to an unusual discovery he had made while cleaning his house on Rue de Soleuvre: several hand grenades nestled in a box.

The man consequently brought the box outside and placed it in his garden, waiting for the authorities to arrive at the scene.

The bomb disposal team quickly arrived at the scene to examine the potential explosives. Luckily, they concluded that the grenades posed little threat as they did not contain explosive material. Nevertheless, the police had to seize the grenades.

In this context, the police reiterated that anyone who finds potential explosives should immediately phone the national emergency number 113.

Under no circumstances, should you touch or transport the potentially dangerous items yourself.
