Exceptions were only possible in very specific circumstances prior to the pandemic.

In the future, a municipal council may designate different locations within the municipality for the celebration of civil marriages or civil partnerships (PACS).

These locations can include historic buildings, ballrooms, parks, or castles that are open to the public. Religious buildings, however, are only eligible if they have been deconsecrated.
