There are several factors that may have contributed to the situation, including rain and strikes by France’s national railway company SNCF.

While reports of more than 20 kilometres of congestion on the French A31 and A3 motorways up to the Berchem services in the Grand Duchy came in early on Tuesday, it seems as though the situation is similar on the Luxembourgish A4 between Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg City. Here, congestion is affecting the stretch up to Leudelange.
