Police were called out around 110 times overnight, dealing with incidents ranging from brawls and arguments to breaches of the night-time noise regulations in various parts of Luxembourg.
In most cases, the situation had already calmed down by the time officers arrived, or could be resolved on the spot.
At around 2am, police were alerted to an incident at a café in Rue de Neudorf, Luxembourg City, where a man had reportedly threatened staff. Officers managed to de-escalate the situation and calm the individual down.
Police also carried out alcohol checks on the order of the public prosecutor. These took place on Friday at 10.30pm in Itzig, and in the early hours of Saturday at 12.30am on Boulevard de Kockelscheuer and at 2.30am on Boulevard du Dr Charles Marx in Luxembourg City.
A total of 118 motorists were stopped during these checks, even if there was no obvious sign of alcohol consumption.
Eight drivers tested positive and were reported, but none had their licences revoked. There were additional offences recorded: three breaches of the Highway Code and four cases of vehicle defects.
