A total of 164 affordable homes are being developed for families from the Grevenmacher canton in the new An der Schmëtt neighbourhood in Wecker. The project is being overseen by the Housing Fund (Fonds du Logement) and will transform the existing Cité Syrdall into a modern residential area.

Of the planned properties, one third will be offered for sale, while the remaining two thirds will be available to rent. Prices for houses are set between €590,000 and €750,000. The first residents are expected to move into the Biwer municipality development from December this year.

Biwer currently has around 1,900 inhabitants, but that figure is expected to increase by approximately 700 people by 2028 as a result of this project. This anticipated growth means new infrastructure will be needed, including a school and a childcare centre.

After years of stagnation in the former Cité Syrdall, the area is finally seeing significant development. The 5.5-hectare site will soon offer a mix of single-family homes and apartments, providing much-needed housing for the growing community.
