The crux of the OGBL's press release is that the new fiscal convention cannot be allowed to punish French cross-border workers, especially those with more modest salaries. The trade union is mainly concerned about the prospect of cross-border workers falling victim to double taxation.

The OGBL wrote that the French convention is unreadable and claimed that even fiscal experts have struggled to make sense of it. The trade union is still awaiting a clarifying response from the French authorities.

The trade union went on to question what the point of the convention would be, as it would introduce a differential tax on cross-border workers, considering the previous convention explicitly protected workers from double taxation.

Reiterating its call for clarity, the OGBL highlighted that it would continue to defend the interests of employees against unfair taxation.
