Minister of Health Paulette Lenert is optimistic about the coronavirus vaccine, but it is too early to share a vaccination strategy for the Grand Duchy, she said in an interview with RTL. The priority now would be for EU actors to take a strong position together and for the vaccine to be rigorously tested before distribution begins.
"I believe that once the vaccine is permitted on the European market, one can be confident it has been reviewed and tested, and that it meets our high safety standards." She further urged patience: "There are many procedures, but we want to be sure the vaccine is ready to be distributed to every man and woman."

What exactly the distribution strategy would entail, and who the first to be vaccinated would be, is still unclear. She explained that this would depend on how many vaccines are available to Luxembourg. A working group for the ministry is focusing on this subject now for many weeks.
The situations is still tense, as Luxembourg is situated in the European epicentre of the pandemic. Even if a vaccine were to be available soon, it could not be distributed before the Christmas holidays. She urged everyone to prepare for festivities that will be slightly different than any other year.
