When officers arrived at the scene, the woman had already suffered serious injuries to her face and upper body.
The man, who was drunk at the time, still tried to defend himself against officers, but he was soon overwhelmed and brought to the station. The woman was rushed to a hospital in the meantime.
The perpetrator still faced an examining magistrate that same day.
