Over the course of almost four hours, officers stopped a total of 229 drivers at both locations. They found that only five were above the allowed alcohol limit and revoked the license in one case.

Similar checks took place in Luxembourg City overnight: on Boulevard Joseph II (from 11.00 p.m until midnight), in Route d’Echternach (from 1.00 a.m. until 2.00 a.m.), and in Rue de Neudorf (from 3.00 a.m until 4.00 a.m.). Police stopped a total of 211 drivers, with 14 being above the allowed alcohol limit, out of which five had their licenses revoked.

A police patrol found two broken street poles in Rue Dicks in the Gare district. A nearby witness was able to describe the car that crashed into them and also helped guide officers in the right direction to locate it. They found the vehicle vacated in a bus lane near the central station, but the driver returned soon after. As he tested positive for alcohol, officers revoked the man’s license.

A drink driver then crashed into a roadside tree on Boulevard Victor Thorn. However, when the man tried maneuvering his car back on the street, he collided with an oncoming car. The driver of the former vehicle suffered injuries in the process and was brought to a hospital. Officers revoked his license due to a positive alcohol test.
