On Saturday afternoon, the police in Esch-sur-Alzette received a call notifying them of a robbery on Rue Xavier Brasseur.

The police issued a call for witnesses asking members of the public to come forward with any information concerning the thieves. The police received several phone calls from residents, which helped officers identify the suspects.

The call for witnesses has been retracted and the police inquiry will continue for the time being.

The incident on Saturday

The police received the report of two men armed with a firearm robbing a tobacco shop on Rue Xavier Brasseur just after 4pm on Saturday. The police have issued descriptions of the suspects and are calling for witnesses.

The men entered the shop with their hoods up. One of the men held a gun to the employee whilst the other stole money from the till. The men then escaped the scene of the crime by driving along Rue Zenon Bernard towards the post office.
