The fire appeared to have started in one of the rooms while the top floor was already completely covered in smoke. While checking for any people inside the house, officers found a heavily inebriated man who was not aware of the danger. Only after being ordered repeatedly by the police to leave the house, the man finally followed suit. He was taken to hospital for a check-up.
A background check later revealed that the man had been reported for being in the country illegally. An investigation has been launched.
The fire was put out by fire fighters at around 4pm. Because arson could not be ruled out, the special investigations unit of the public prosecutor’s office was informed.
