Excessive speeding and drunk driving remain the main culprits behind traffic accidents in the Grand Duchy. Indeed, on Wednesday, the Grand Ducal police will take part in the Europe-wide "speed marathon" to crack down on speeding.

On Sunday, police officers conducted large-scale alcohol tests in several municipalities, namely Linger, Bascharage, Petange, and Rodange. Between 5pm and 9pm, officers tested the blood alcohol levels of 425 drivers.

The tests came back positive in nine cases. Police officers lodged written reports against six drivers and suspended five licenses on the spot.
