According to reports, the area around the Esch-sur-Alzette hospital was left without power for around eight hours after an electrical transformer box exploded on Rue Emile Mayrisch.
Fire fighters joined technical teams to dismantle and replace the faulty equipment, while the hospital's emergency department and medical centre continued to operate through the use of a generator.
The municipality of Esch-sur-Alzette issued a statement saying they were seeking to rectify the issue as soon as possible, but the initial timeframe for repair stood at 8 hours as of Monday night. The hospital was supported by a team from the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps.
