The aim of the change is to render the tools of the justice system more accessible to the public.

Furthermore, government officials want to ensure that procedures become more efficient so that people can face shorter deadlines, as a statement by the Ministry of Justice conveys.

The peace court can now treat cases of up to €15,000. The limit used to be set at €10,000. There are also amendments to the appeal procedures for cases ranging between €15,000 and €100,000, which should facilitate the completion of all necessary steps.
