Prosecutors have requested prison sentences of up to six years for four police officers on trial over an alleged brutal assault on a man in a cell at the former Luxembourg-Gare police station in May 2023.

Four police officers have been standing trial since the end of April following an incident that occurred at the former Luxembourg-Gare police station in 2023. On Tuesday, the prosecution requested prison sentences ranging from three to six years for the four defendants.

In the case of alleged police brutality that took place in May 2023 at the Luxembourg-Gare police station, the prosecution is seeking the following sentences:

The officer who allegedly punched the man in the face while he was in a cell faces a six-year prison sentence.

The officer who was standing next to him at the time faces five years.

Another officer who was present in the room faces a three-year sentence.

For the most senior officer, who allegedly later incited a junior colleague to falsify the incident report, the prosecutor requested a five-year prison sentence.
