2019 was a good year for the Democratic Party, representatives of the party said. Charles Goerens and Monica Semedo were elected to the European Parliament and the government is working through the coalition agreement. The last survey also came as a positive surprise for the party.
Party President Corinne Cahen told RTL that the tax reform remains a key subject. Climate politics, housing, and mobility are also key for the party members. They explained that all these issues were not to be solved alone, which is not a problem as the key points were included in the coalition agreement, Cahen stressed. DP Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna is a key player in the reform process.
Public transport will be made free on 1 March. Cahen argued that this was largely due to the efficiency of the DP's party programme. The tram is also hoped to improve the traffic situation in and around Luxembourg City. When questioned about the tax reform, Cahen explained it would above all revolve around individualisation. The state should not prescribe how people should live together, she added.
