RTL's Anouk Siebenaler was among the winners at the 2026 Amnesty Media Awards in Luxembourg City, taking the top prize in the 'Multimedia' category for her report on child mortality.

The 2026 Amnesty Media Awards, held at Rotondes in Luxembourg City on Tuesday, saw RTL journalist Anouk Siebenaler take home the top prize in the ‘Multimedia’ category for her report ‘Wa Kanner ze fréi stierwen’ (‘When Children Die Too Young’) . In the ‘Print Press’ category, the award went to France Clarinval from the Lëtzebuerger Land for the article ‘Queer en exil’ (‘Queer in Exile’).

The ‘Online Community’ category recognised the social media campaign ‘1 cm’ by the Lëtzebuerger Journal. The ‘Jury’s Favourite’, meanwhile, was awarded to Stefan Kunzmann from Tageblatt for his article ‘Gift im Paradies’ (‘Poison in Paradise’).

The ceremony, held annually since 2016, represents a prestigious recognition of journalistic excellence, particularly focusing on human rights advocacy through impactful reporting and various media forms.

The 2026 jury consisted of Tracy Heindrichs from the Luxembourg Times, Jang Kapgen, a freelance journalist with the Lëtzebuerger Journal and editor of queer.lu, Noémie Sadler, a lawyer and president of the Consultative Human Rights Commission, Robert Harmsen, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Luxembourg and holder of the UNESCO Chair in Human Rights, Frédérique Buck, a communications advisor and media content creator, and Lourain Alhalabi, an activist and delegate of Jeunes Amnesty.

The event was hosted by Misch Pautsch, President of the Luxembourg Journalists Association (ALJP), cice-president of the Press Council, and journalist at the Lëtzebuerger Journal.
