In Luxembourg:

  • A historic sum of money - almost €9 billion - is to be injected into the economy to save it from the coronavirus crisis, according to Minister of Finance Pierre Gramegna.
  • Police in Luxembourg carried out more than a thousand checks to enforce the government's measures over the past week, handing out 200 fines and warnings.

In Saturday's international developments:

  • Global coronavirus cases have overtaken the total population of Luxembourg and now stand at 640,589, with 29,848 deaths and 137,270 recoveries. You can find more detailed statistics here.
  • A 70-year-old Sikh guru has emerged as a super-spreader of the coronavirus in India's Punjab state, infecting up to 15,000 people.
  • The Chinese city of Wuhan, where the first cases of coronavirus were reported in December, has partially re-opened after months of total lockdown.
