On Tuesday, the Ministry of the Environment published a statement alongside the Ministry of Health, explaining that while it remained possible to organise a battue, the hunt had to be adapted to the new measures against Covid-19.
As more than ten people usually participate in a battue, the hunt would need to comply with the same rules which are also in place for any other type of indoor or outdoor assembly. The participating hunters have to wear face masks and keep a distance of at least two metres between each other. The Covid law provides that assemblies of over 100 people are forbidden, a rule which will also apply to battues.
The traditional luncheons or dinners, which are usually organised in the context of a battue, will not be allowed to take place this year, no matter if they were due to take place indoors or outdoors. However, should an organiser still wish to include a meal in the event, they will have to get in touch with a restaurant, which could then ensure that the sanitary measures will be respected.
The ministries also point out that while these guidelines apply to the current situation, people should keep in mind that new measures could be introduced at any point.
