Care staff reportsSituation has progressed, but there remains room for improvement

Anne-Marie Hanff, President of ANIL, the Nurses Assocation, shares latest developments in care.

Anne-Marie Hanff said that it was noticeable that the Ministry of Health was doing its best to support health services by providing things such as protective masks. Nevertheless, there would always be room for improvements.

Many members were currently turning towards ANIL because they were afraid, not only of becoming infected themselves, but more of then passing on this infection to family and patients.
A number of nurses who have already tested positive for the virus also contacted ANIL. President Anne-Maire Hanff lamented the fact that there were no clear guidelines as to when care staff needed to be tested, what exactly care looks like under the current circumstances, or how to protect themselves when there was not enough protective equipment.

Hanff also expressed sadness at the absence of a care staff representative at the health ministry's crisis unit. This is not the first time they had been denied such a request, as the association had already demanded to instate a "Director of Care" in the Ministry of Health the previous year.
