In the context of the event, Minister Kox received two urgent parliamentary enquiries, one filed by MPs from the Christian Social People's Party (CSV), the other from the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR).

In his response, the politician underlined that it was in no way an attempt to limit press freedom or enforce censorship. Should that be the impression that people got, he is officially apologising, Minister Kox further noted.

The only reason that government officials decided to ask for a retraction of the article is because it stated factual inaccuracies, Minister Kox explained. Finally, he noted that the spokesperson acted on their own behalf, and was not ordered to contact Reporter.lu.
