LuxTrust and Spuerkees scamText message phishing scam making the rounds again

RTL Today
Users have reported fraudulent messages purporting to relate to banking problems, along with a link to allegedly solve the issue.

The link takes the user to a site where they are encouraged to put in their personal details, which would then grant the perpetrators access to sensitive information such as credit cards or bank account details.

The Luxtrust scam consists of a message claiming to come from an account named “Trust App”, which asks people to update the app. Clicking on the link enables the scammer to access the user’s data.

The Spuerkees scam is a text message from a Spanish number (beginning +34) which claims the user’s account has been temporarily suspended and can only be unlocked through the link provided.

In such situations, users are advised to never click on any links provided and must not complete any forms with their information. If in doubt it is best to contact Luxtrust, the banking provider, or the police.
