One of the world’s few statesman, His Excellency President Jean-Claude Juncker will speak at the Sir Winston Churchill Memorial Lecture on 30 May 2022. 2022 is the British-Luxembourg Society’s 75th anniversary, founded in 1947 as a non-profit association which strives to deepen, maintain and develop the bonds of friendship that exist between Luxembourg and Great Britain.
Over the years the Society has had the privilege to host the annual Sir Winston Churchill Memorial Lecture and to invite a series of eminent speakers from the British political, economic or cultural world. The speakers give a lecture on a topic of their choice which is usually a European theme.
Past speakers have included: The Rt. Hon. Margaret Thatcher, former British Prime Minister; The Rt. Hon. Neil Kinnock, former Vice-President of the European Commission; The Rt. Hon. Douglas Hurd CBE MP, former British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Eddie George, former Governor of the Bank of England and Lord Patton, the last Governor of Hong Kong.
