Habets quoted personal considerations as the reason for his sudden resignation. Thomas Rabe, the president of the RTL Group Board, will take over the role of CEO in addition to his function as CEO and chairman of the mass media company Bertelsmann.

To fill the void of Rabe as president, Martin Taylor will assume the role of president in addition to being the chairman of the Board of Directors. James Singh was made vice-president.

In the press release, Rabe thanked Habets for "more than 20 years in various management positions at RTL Group" and wished him all the best for the future.

His vision for RTL is clear: "RTL Group will continue to focus on three priorities," he explained. The media giant, according to the new CEO, hopes to strengthen its TV, radio and content production businesses, bring to life local video streaming services and improve its advertising technology.
