
Police were called out to a fight on Place du Marché in Echternach at 5pm on Tuesday, where officers found a man laying unconscious on the ground. Medical treatment was administered.
According to initial reports, an argument had broken out among multiple people at a café. One of the people involved had punched the man in the face, leading him to fall to the ground.
The suspect left the premises straight afterwards, but was found by police near Echternach lake a short time later. After performing identity checks, the officers realised there was already a warrant out for the suspect's arrest following a separate offence.
He was promptly taken into custody and transferred to Sanem prison. A new report was drawn up for the assault.
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a physical altercation on Rue de l'Alzette in Esch-sur-Alzette was reported to the police. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found several people present, one of whom had sustained a stab wound to the chest.
According to initial reports, an argument broke out after a woman was harassed by a man. When others realised what was happening and tried to intervene, a fight erupted. During this altercation, the suspect allegedly injured one of the participants with an unidentified weapon.
After receiving initial treatment at the scene, the injured man was transported to the hospital for further medical care. The suspect was apprehended at the scene. On the orders of the public prosecutor, he was placed under arrest and then brought before a judge. An investigation is ongoing.
At 10.30am on Tuesday, police were informed of a shoplifting incident at a store located on Avenue de la Porte-Neuve in Luxembourg City. The suspect allegedly hid several food items and alcoholic beverages in a bag before leaving the store without paying for the goods.
Shortly afterwards, the police received a report concerning a person behaving suspiciously on a tram heading towards the central station, matching the description of the suspect. He was duly found by a police patrol not far from the train station. During the search, the previously stolen goods were recovered and returned to the shop.
On the orders of the public prosecutor, the suspect was placed under arrest and brought before an investigating judge on Tuesday afternoon. A report was drawn up.
