
With a force of 28 police officers and a sniffer dog, the police were on high alert for drugs on Friday night.
The drugs bust started at 9.45pm and focused on two streets in partuclar - Avenue de la Gare and Rue the Strasbourg. The sniffer dog alerted officers to 23 people, all of whom were then checked.
The police sent two individuals who had swallowed their drug stash during the checks to the hospital in order for them to be scanned. Three other people were found to be in the possession of cocaine. The operation finished at around 2.30am.
The police detained three people. Among others, the police caught a dealer on a platform at Luxembourg City's train station, as he was surrounded by "customers". He attempted to flee, but officers were able to catch him near the footbridge. He was carrying 38 balls of heroin and cocaine, as well as a considerable amount of cash.
The public prosecutor's office ordered the seizure of the drugs and the arrest of the individual, who will be presented to the examining magistrate.
