According to Post Group’s 2021 report, communication via traditional mail continues to decline sharply, with activity dropping by 30% in the last five years. Parcel delivery, on the other hand, is a trend that has been pushed by the pandemic. In just four years, the quantity of parcels delivered by POST Luxembourg has doubled.
In 2021, around 7 million parcels were delivered. However, according to Post Group Managing Director Claude Strasser, this activity is “not as profitable as traditional mail”.
In the telecommunications sector, Post is banking on glass fibre. By 2025, the company wants to switch completely to ‘All IP’ technology, in which all data exchange, including phone calls, takes place over the Internet.
The financial sector continues to be a source of concern for Post Group, which states that it has paid “too much negative interest” in recent years. As for the closure of a number of regional post offices, the group’s managing director explained that fewer and fewer customers are going to these places to make bank transfers.
