The first spot to be affected by the tram works is the closest area to the current end of the tram line: the crossing between Boulevard Joseph II and Avenue Emile Reuter. Luxtram will be placing underground pipes as part of the preparation for the tram's continued course.

As a result, there will only be one lane open to both buses and cars, which will likely cause considerable delays during the morning rush hour. The Luxembourg City municipal authorities expect delays towards Kirchberg going all the way back to Hollerich.

The municipal authorities announced the impending roadworks on Thursday morning so that people can adapt their journeys to avoid the traffic. Mayor Lydie Polfer explained that all the roadworks were organised to impact traffic as little as possible, but any roadworks in the city will inevitable have an effect on traffic.

The second set of roadworks will take place on  the Avenue de la Liberté. Until next Wednesday, motorists will be unable to turn onto Rue Goethe from the Avenue de la Liberté. As for access to Rue Dicks from the Avenue de la Liberté, that will be unavailable until Friday 25 January.

In addition to this information, we announced earlier this week that roadworks preparing the Büchler bridge for the tram expansion kicked off on Wednesday.
