It is unclear what happened, but an RTL photographer on site believed it to have derailed following a technical problem while moving between the Luxtram depot and the first stop at LuxExpo.
There were no passengers onboard the tram at the time of the incident.
A team was on site to lift the back end of the tram back on its tracks.
